8 HERNANDES $101 unplaced in all 11 career runs to date (actually hasn't finished better than 7th) and from this outside gate has virtually no hope

12 ALMA GRANT $3.8 broke when in contention last time, provided she is on her best behaviour will be right in the mix

Race 2

1 RUSHIN COURAGE NZ $6 draws to be on the speed all the way, whilst he has the speed to lead he will probably hand up and if the split comes can certainly win
2 AN EYE FOR AN EYE NZ $15 last run was his best effort in ages, looked a promising horse 12 months ago so might be on the way back so is some hope
3 HARLEY CLASSIC $5 tough pacer who went okay first up, should be in the finish
4 GLORY IS ILLUSIVE $26 racing well blow his best and prefer others
5 OUR SIR LEW $17 another who ran his best race in ages last time so one for exotics
6 AAPENNON $2.8 good effort after having no luck last time in a good form race, given even luck here will be mighty hard to beat
7 TOUCHWOOD BUCKSTA $15 going to need plenty of luck from out here but going well enough to feature, yet another for exotics
8 PRETTYBOYTOBY $17 has the ability to win but from this draw will have to go back at the start and faces an almost impossible task over this trip

10 THE INHIBITOR $34 form is very average but its worth noting that Nat Emery gets the drive this week and horse has a decent record for her so may be an improver and worth throwing in the lower end of exotics
11 ARK WEST $7 won both starts for the new stable, did think he was flattered to win last time when they staggered home in 61.3 so prepared to risk somewhat from here as will have to come home at least 3 seconds quicker

Race 3

1 KARALTA WIZARD $2.2 hard to assess as an early season 3yo taking on older horses and see many fail at this time of year as they are just not seasoned enough, will probably start at a ridiculous price given that all form is against own age but still definitely can win. Whether he is value or not is another matter
2 SURPRISE PURCHASE $8 good win last time out against easier opposition, generally likes to lead so the battle between him and the pole early will be very important
3 JUST LIKE THUNDER $13 considered a bit of a Devonport specialist but form is okay at most tracks to be honest, a must for exotics
4 TOP MEMORIES $51 didn't do a lot on debut and needs to improve
5 TOP PREMIER $17 always running home and this is weakest race he has struck in a while, might surprise at odds
6 RAMSAYS FURY $67 saves best form for Devonport and when drawn to lead so not much chance from here

11 ELL ESS BABE $8 resumes here and always hard from 2nd row over a mile but but mixed it with the best fillies last season so be right in the finish if anywhere near her top but her trial was just fair. Watch market closely
12 INTHENICKOFTIME $21 going a bit better than form suggests but find it tough from this draw
13 LOOK LOOK $26 has run some good races this time in but very hard from here so minor place hope at very best

Race 4

1 PRINCE CALAF $2.3 has always raced best when drawn to lead and gets his chance to win again here, there is some speed outside him but he should lead and if he does should win
2 CELTIC LEGEND $5 been well driven in both races since a spell sitting leader's back both times for a narrow win and a narrow defeat. Likely to get every hope again from this draw so is the main danger
3 JANSZOON $15 another who has been perfectly driven to win past couple but with speed inside here is highly unlikely to get the same type of run and doubt he can come round them and win
4 EL JAYS MAVERICK $15 always a place hope at this level, probably lacks the ability to win but won't be far away
5 BAJARDO RIVER $26 been used from the gate at past couple and has disappointed in the straight, may go better if driven more quietly but place hopes appear best
6 SCARLETT BLAZE $8 going okay but draw is very tricky, will need luck but certainly going well enough to feature
7 RIVER IN BLUEJEANS $26 also going okay and this looks no harder than recent fields he has struck but going to have to work hard from the draw so prefer others
8 STEELINGTON NZ $51 won a slogfest here 2 runs back and going to have to work too hard from this barrier

1 BALENCIA $17 threw the race away when galloped whilst leading last time. Draw is a huge worry as may get crossed and is the type of horse who simply cannot sprint so a soft pegs run wouldn't be much good. Prepared to risk her as a winning chance
2 KING ALBERT $17 veteran who is normally thereabouts, hasn't won for a very long time though so place hopes appear best
3 LUGOVOI LEIS $4.5 ever consistent pacer who resumed with a gallant 2nd and draws best of the main fancies, only concern is that best form has always been when driven with cover and doubt he would hand up to anything drawn the front
4 IN CRUISE MODE $34 showed a glimpse of his best last time but this still looks too tough
5 CURRYNROSES $15 rarely wins and always seems to be running on so is a place chance as usual
6 OUR ZELLWEGER NZ $17 been disappointing recently but didn't have much luck last time and may improve as trials prior to last run were okay as well. One for exotics
7 STILL ROYAL $21 won a weaker race last time and place hopes appear best here
8 HELL FIRE BOY $34 has the ability to feature given the right run but is going to have to work too hard from the draw

11 STEP UP AND PLAY $3.2 classy mare who generally races best in front but her class will take her a long way. If it is truly run she might be the one

1 TOPNOTCH DAN $4 former topline juvenile who has promised a bit at past couple and from this draw will be hard to beat
2 GRAND BROOK $34 wasn't too bad a run last time but this tougher
3 MURILLO BROMAC NZ $5.5 honest horse who follows speed well and likely to get a good trip from this gate, one of the top hopes
4 WINGSOFANEAGLE $5.5 has grown a leg at recent starts and whilst this is harder he might be the leader and be hard to run down
5 GRACIE HART $8 honest mare who is always a chance at this level, draw is a touch awkward but is still a must include
6 BUBBAS A FAKE $4 ignore last run when blew the stand completely, back to mobile here and previous mobile form is good enough for this
7 SECRET RENDEZVOUS $21 enigmatic type who will be driven cold and some hope if they overdo things up front
8 WAYNE ROONEY NZ $101 no hope

1 CASTASPELL $26 honest horse who just lacks a bit of zip nowadays, draw gives him some place hope though
2 ULOS $3.5 is flying at the moment and if he stepped to the front and made his dangers chase would take no end of running down
3 ARMBRO SPUR $51 resuming and may struggle
4 JUST MAKE OUR DEIGH NZ $8 the handicaps bring this fella into the race, has been competitive in mobiles so with the handicap advantage over most of his rivals is some hope
5 BONNY WEE LADDIE $34 huge step up in class from claiming grade, does follow speed well however so if stepped well may run a bit of a race despite the class rise
6 KINGS A COACH $51 racing well below best and wait until he shows something
7 DODGERMEMATE $51 honest run in an easier race last week, minor place chance at best here
8 REDSIDE SHREK $21 has galloped at both runs since a spell so hard to get a guide on how well he is going, would be well placed on best form so not without a rough hope
9 BABYITSU $7 has been a shade below his best since resuming but still been competitive, yet another who should appreciate the handicap edge
10 DANCE OF THE DEITY $13 has raced very well all season, this is by far his hardest test but a must for exotics
11 JUMPIN JACK JASPER $21 has a good record in stands but generally when he draws the front so might find it tough from 10m behind
12 SKY TOWER $8 big, tough horse who always puts in. The 2700m trip is no issue either. Provided he steps okay is still some hope despite the handicap
13 GETTYSBURG ADDRESS $15 genuine horse who looks harshly treated at the handicaps but if he gets the right run in can certainly feature
14 TI VOGLIOBENE $5 50m handicap is a huge impost even over the 2700m trip. The other factor to take into account is that there are 14 horses in the race. He is too good of a horse to say he can't win but its going to be tough

Race 8

1 TOUCHWOOD TEEKSTA $17 probably not in the same league as a couple in the race on ability but draws to receive a great run and he is a genuine horse so a must for exotics
2 EMPTY ENVELOPE $1.7 looks a very good horse in the making, still a touch green but has a big motor. Clearly the one to beat from this draw
3 ANOPTOMIST $26 honest type who lacks the ability of a couple of its rivals here but won't shirk the task. Place is best though
4 POP BILLY $51 hasn't been beaten far in both runs since resuming but still needs it weaker than this. May be a bit of a pest with his early speed as well
5 ZURBARAN $5 resumed from a spell for a new stable with a narrow win and whilst it didn't look impressive its worth noting the 2nd horse came out and dead set bolted in at its next start so there was more merit in the win than it appeared
6 ATTA JET $26 good win last time but this is much harder so place hope only
7 LITTLE ELF $101 form has really tapered off and impossible to see him featuring from out here
8 TENT PEG $101 outclassed

Race 9

1 LILLY DARLING $11 filly taking on the boys, had big wraps on her as a young horse but didn't quite live up to them. Trial was just average as well so would prefer her against her own sex
2 BEAUTIDE $2.5 was right up there with the top 2yo colts last season and resumes here off a sound trial win. From this gate looks the one to beat
3 SAFE PROSPECT $11 another decent 2yo from last season who resumes, hasn't been seen at the trials but was competitive in most races last season and a forward showing is expected
4 ZIMERO $101 outclassed
5 HAMISH SANZ $5 tough, honest colt who lacks a bit of zip but tries very hard. Good EW hope again
6 MAJOR RULER $34 has some ability but this looks too tough
7 PACKEDTOTHERAFTERS $13 very good runs at both starts to date, draw makes it tough but certainly has the ability to feature with luck in running
8 TISU TOOTA $34 won a much easier race last time, place best this time

9 CODIE KARALTA $4.5 very good filly who has proven that she can be competitive with the boys, draw is actually pretty good for her as should trail through okay. If there are any chinks in the armour of the 2 horse, she will be the one to find them

Race 1

1 TIME TO PRAY $15 yet to run a place in 18 starts but past few haven't been awful, no surprise to see her sneak a place against this lot
2 LILLANS GIRL $17 has plenty of speed but isn't the strongest animal in the world, if she managed to cross the pole which she probably will would be in the mix for the placings
3 THANKGODYOURLOADED $17 both career starts have been well spaced and hasn't done much in either but trial form has been reasonable so one for exotics
4 ITS A HOOT $1.40 honest one paced type who has been placed in better fields at past 4 runs so looks extremely well placed against this lot. Will be put into the race and really should win on recent form
5 WATTLE CREEK $26 showed some ability early on but done little to enthuse at both runs this time in, is a shade better than form reads though so throw in the exotics if going wide
6 LITTLEBITOFGLORY $51 hasn't run a place and been beaten over 30 metres at past 5 runs so looks no hope from this draw
7 MERLIN OF CAMELOT $34 very disappointing when resuming and draw makes it tough but wouldn't surprise to see some improvement

1 THE CHEROKEE CHIEF NZ ($5,000) $4 honest type who will be right in the finish with a clean getaway
2 JEFFERSON NZ ($5,000) $4 this is his best draw in ages (meets most of rivals 20 metres better due to reduction in his claiming price) and would definitely win this on best form so a massive improvement would not surprise
3 AUSSIE CULLEN ($5,000) $6 good run at first start back in Tassie, another with a good winning chance in a very even race
4 PRINCE OF TARA NZ ($5,000) $6 very good win at this level 3 runs back then outclassed at past 2 runs so a good chance of bouncing back to form
5 NIBEBO ($5,000) $11 been around the mark at this level recently, will need to do everything right to win but not without claims
6 FORTY TWO GRAND ($6,000) $6 honest type who beat better than these when led 2 starts back, obviously won't lead from the handicap but still a very good chance

Race 3

1 BIDE YOUR TIME $7 going well at the moment, bit of a query from behind the tapes (as are a lot of these) but looks the only possible danger to fav if he did something wrong
2 EARL HICKEY $26 blew the stand at Carrick which isn't a good sign, previous form was fair so a minor place chance if does everything right
3 CATS AND DOGS $11 resumes and has won from the stand before which is an obvious bonus and has a good career record (placed in 9 of 11 Tassie starts). Trial form isn't startling for his return but a must for exotics
4 BESTOILYET $101 resuming and form simply isn't good enough
5 CHANCEABET $26 tough horse whose form has really tapered off lately but given a clean getaway might get into the placings
6 SHIRNELL $51 form is a lot better than it looks on paper but still faces a huge ask here
7 CRASH CART $21 always running on, must say that the stand is a huge worry as he has his issues from behind the mobile but another who could place with a safe getaway
8 GEDLEE $1.2 potential star who looked more like his true self last time finishing off in 27.8 hard held. Simply wins with a clean getaway and would be $1.04 in a mobile but has never started from behind the tapes before so hard to launch in at the shorts
9 DEANS LEGEND $101 first up for 3 years and hasn't won a race in over 5 years and has to give a star a 20 metre headstart. No thanks

Race 4

1 PUT MBACK $2.2 very cheeky run last time when led and just got nabbed late, Gareth jumps on here and looks the leader again so clearly the one to beat
2 REALLY WESTERN $3 has raced very well at both career starts to date and once again will be right in the mix
3 WUNDABABE $17 resuming and taking on the boys but did run some good races last time in so won't be far away but prefer place best
4 WOODY BEOURS $4.5 interesting runner resuming who was just a shade below the best in his 2yo campaign but looked as if he would develop into a fair horse. Trial form is okay so a huge query
5 CROMBIE BAY $34 find this easier than past couple but still needs to lift
6 DENVERADO $101 had cheap runs at both starts and hasn't done a lot so needs to improve
7 TRUMP LADY $51 did a bit wrong at first start and was beaten clearly, wait until she shows something

3 BRO TOWN NZ $4.5 showed teriffic gatespeed to lead in a tougher race last time and wasn't beaten far (did get away with a 66.1 first half though), however if he led again would be a good chance
4 WIZARD JONES $21 fair run when resuming, bit of speed under him here so minor place hope at best
5 MERLIN BROMAC NZ $21 hasn't done much in all three Tasmanian runs to date, has had a short let up so may improve but would need to
6 REALLY IMATIGERESS $17 good win when drew the pole 3 starts back then struggled at next couple. Likely to find it tough again from out here but not the worst
7 MAGNIFICANTCAMELOT $3.5 went like a jet winning last time, ton of speed under him here though so won't get the front but simply has to be regarded as a major hope

12 DELTA SANDS $21 led and got away with murder to scrape home last week, diffrent kettle of fish from this gate so place hopes appear best

Race 6

1 SUMTIMELATER $21 has been okay at the trials but hasn't done much at the races, may be an improver from the better draw so throw into the exotics
2 STRATEGIC MISS $11 cheeky run in a better field last time, whilst she is a 31 start maiden she is certainly going well enough to be given a rough winning hope
3 SIR YOIE $3.5 been very good at both runs since resuming, should press forward from this gate and if found the pegs would be the one to beat. Still a decent chance if doesn't lead
4 IM ONLY DREAMING $26 first starter with reasonable trial form, betting the best guide
5 TASPACEDOTCOM $21 took full advantage of the pole draw last time to trail through into a place and whilst she doesn't draw as well here is a place hope again
6 SHEEZ EXQUISITE NZ $17 disappointing mare who promised a bit early on but never quite went on with it. First up run was just fair as well so whilst she has to be kept relatively safe would need to improve

1 TROJAN CALM NZ $15 hasn't won for a very long time and recent form is average to say the least. This is her best draw in a long time though so an improvement wouldn't totally surprise
2 NEW YORK FELLA $4 has chased home some good ones lately and this looks a good race for him. Is always competitive and draws well so is right in the mix
3 PHANTOM JASPER $17 one paced type who struggles to win as finds the others too quick at the end of the race, only winning hope would be if he led and doubt that happens but still an exotics hope as will whack away
4 WEEMALANEWS (Em 1) improved of late, be about a $13 pop if got a run
5 MISTER GALLENTI $6 looks well placed in this race on best form, can mix his form but if the right one turned up would be a major player. He is usually well supported when they think he can win so monitor betting with him
6 CAM DILLON $26 resuming and hasn't won for 3 years but form was reasonable prior to a break. Not hopeless
7 TWOGRANDAHAND $13 certainly going well enough to win but going to need a lot to go right from this barrier. Prefer as a place chance but some hope of winning if gets the breaks

Stewards are failing to protect punters

Surely its come to the time where stewards have to be more severe when penalising drivers. This is just one instance from last Saturday night where a driver (Gavin Lang) caused interference that single handedly caused a long odds on favourite (Whiskey And Ice, $1.40) to be beaten. If we purely look at the figures from a punters perspective, there was an enormous amount wagered on Whiskey And Ice that evening and we as punters deserve better when this type of thing occurs.

This is data purely based on the Victorian TAB holds on the race

- Whiskey And Ice started $1.40 in a win pool of $44,000 so would have roughly $25,000 invested on him
- As a $1.40 fav, its fair to say that at least 50% of quaddies would be invested standing him out and with $86,000 in the pool there would be nearly $50,000 alone on him
- There was also $10,000 in the Daily Double pool of which at least another $5000 would have been invested
- There was $20,000 in trifectas so could easily include another $10k that would have stood him out to win

Thats a total of $90,000 invested in Victoria alone and would be up to 6 figures if all bet types were included, plus if we add up what was invested Australia wide on other TABs, Betfair and Corporate Bookies it would be an enormous figure

And what was the punishment you ask???
Gavin Lang received 10 days which is an absolute joke not only considering the financial losses of punters but the possible damage the horse could have suffered from the interference. Should have been a minimum 4 weeks.

From the stewards report:

Drivers Gavin Lang (Julias Song NZ) and Kimberlie Hobby (Tickle The Falcon) were questioned regarding an incident in the back straight on the final occasion where Tickle The Falcon broke. After considering all the evidence tendered driver Gavin Lang was charged under Rule 163(1)(a) for causing interference for allowing Julias Song NZ to shift out from the one out line when not sufficiently clear of Tickle The Falcon, contacting that horse and causing it to break. Driver Lang was found guilty as charged and after considering his good driving record Stewards suspended his driver's licence for a period of 10 days to commence midnight 13 November 2010.

As a result of Tickle The Falcon galloping Whiskey And Ice was severely checked and broke and Texas Typ NZ was inconvenienced.

Severe interference such as this needs to be stamped out and to only give a driver 10 days is a dead set joke. The other thing from this race I struggle to comprehend is why there wasn't a protest from Whiskey And Ice against the winner (Gavin's drive) as would have been upheld surely as after losing around 30 metres from where the interference occurred at the 500m mark, Whiskey And Ice got going again to run 5th beaten 6 metres. The stewards themselves agree that the winner caused the interference so a protest would surely have been upheld which would have also elevated Whiskey And Ice to 4th place and give the also forgotten owners a bit more prizemoney.

Not taking aim at Gavin and only used this example as its the freshest one in my mind. This stuff happens every day in every state and the sooner the punishments start fitting the crimes the better. High profile drivers get away with murder with the stewards, I hear the argument that a 2 week suspension for a top driver is akin to 3 months for a part timer but that is a just a cop out as if they do something wrong then there should be parity in the penalty. After all, it has exactly the same impact on the punter and the owner but that's right, they don't really matter any more as its all about turnover!

Its little wonder the rank and file punters are giving the caper a wide berth.

Hobart Preview - Sunday November 14

Super meeting albeit with no value from a punting perspective but it sees the return to racing of the potential star Gedlee, the dual horse of the year Shez Ryleymak and a bona fide FFA horse from the mainland in Ti Vogliobene making its debut in the state. Will be very interesting to see how they all go.

Launceston Meeting Review - Wed Nov 10

Meeting saw some very bunched finishes which probably means that its hard to be confident in the races as a form reference. As far as blackbookers go, I only have one:

Just Make Our Deigh - finished close up in a 56.5 closing half on Sunday then ran home well again last night in a 28.3 closing fraction. Now that he is graded back to a C6 means that he simply has to get away with a race soon

Similar with the drivers, there weren't any real standout performances but I have to say that Alex Ashwood really impresses me and he is proactive in races which more drivers should be. 3 drivers had winning doubles on the card but it was the decision by Alex to make mid race moves on Honest Art and Still Royal that gets him the nod as neither horse would have been in the finish if he sat back in the running line.

Launceston Wednesday - Tips and Full Preview

Excellent class of meeting tonight for midweek grade, also confident that the track bias that existed on Sunday night won't be evident this evening as Launceston is a great track and usually very fair. From experience, the only time track bias usually occurs in Harness Racing is when there is a combination of the surface being top-soiled and major rain periods following which results in the loose soil being washed down the camber of the track making the inside like quicksand.

Whilst I have no idea if any topsoil was applied to the track it certainly did belt down with rain on Sunday and with Launceston hosting 2 meetings in the space of 3 days, they just might have dressed the track surface.

8 ROCKY CREEK $26 going okay but generally needs to draw well to figure so prepared to risk from out here but certainly not the worst

10 COMMANDER DATA $41 hasn't been too far away of late, generally races best at Devonport but still the best of the bolters in this
11 HIGHFLYIN FRED $41 resuming from a spell and hard to get enthused from this draw
12 ASHINAGA $34 very one paced type who isn't the worst in the race but from this gate will find it tough

1 PUBLICAN PETE $9 even run when resuming but this is much tougher so prefer place only

3 HAMISH SANZ $2.3 tough horse who is certain to be in the finish from here, reckon he can turn the tables on the stablemate
4 LACHIE JAMES $11 interesting runner who beat a good horse prior to a break, runs into a couple of smart ones here but is a big watch
5 TISU TOOTA $26 resuming and would need to improve on previous form to trouble these
6 KARALTA WIZARD $2.4 got a well deserved win on Sunday, never runs a bad race and is the one to beat again
7 SMILEUPONUS $8 very good run at Devonport and despite this being harder looks an improving type, a must for exotics
8 SHEZALITTLERUSTLER $51 simply doesn't look good enough

1 BERTILS ROCKET $7 opportunist type who generally runs well when gets a decent draw, looks a great exotics chance from this gate
2 BAJARDO RIVER $7 won at bolters odds last time and from this gate may surprise again as draws to get every possible hope
3 MOST HAPPY JASPER $15 form has dropped away at past few and want to see him doing something prior to including as a chance
4 STEELINGTON NZ $11 another honest run last time, never far away so one for exotics
5 LITTLE MISS AJAY $67 find this too tough
6 TENT PEG $67 unplaced in all 15 starts to date, prefer others
7 ROYAL ALCHEMIST $2.3 very hard to assess as won like a star 2 runs back then disgraced himself at subsequent run. Would win this on best form so must respect but as for backing him .....
8 AS YOU WISH $17 draw makes it tough but has ability but simply need too much luck to feature from here

3 ELLIE LATTE $9 had support but was just a fair run on debut, had trialled well prior to debut run so a massive improvement would not surprise, keep very safe
4 TRELAWNEY $51 need to improve on debut effort
5 NO TIME TO DREAM $26 got knocked over when resuming and not the worst, one for exotics
6 INCHBYINCH $11 had his chance when resuming and led and got run over at Devonport, this race is about the same level so not out of calculations
7 PRETTYBOYTROY $8 interesting runner having first start in the state for an in form stable, watch betting very closely
8 LINE THE POCKET NZ (Em 1) $8 forget last run when wasn't put into the race then suffered interference, previous run was super and even from this gate has a chance

13 TOP PREMIER $21 is always running home and one day the planets will align and he will blouse them but prefer place only

1 OUR SIR THOMAS $13 draws to get the type of run he loves but not sure if he is at the top of his game so prefer as a place prospect
2 AN EYE FOR AN EYE NZ $21 racing well below his best and whilst he would be right in the mix at his top he hasn't done anything for a while so prefer to watch
3 KEPT CALM $7 has led and been run down late at past couple but did have his chance to win, may lead again here and if he does will be hard to beat again
4 RUSHIN COURAGE $8 had every hope after leading on Sunday, may go better driven with a sit so keep safe
5 BALENCIA $4.5 one paced mare who was enormous last time, sometimes leaves herself a sitting shot but is very tough and will be in the finish for sure
6 THE INHIBITOR $34 has ability but not racing well currently
7 CUMULATIVE DREAMS $34 would be some chance from a better gate but looks too tough from here
8 CURRYNROSES $8 looks the easiest race she has struck for a while so a definite chance despite the draw

2 NIBEBO ($5,000) $13 had a soft run last time and ran best race in ages, may be an exotics hope again with the same type of run
3 AUSSIE CULLEN ($5,000) $5 returning from a SA stint but would be well placed in this based on previous Tassie form at this level, big watch
4 POP BILLY ($5,000) $34 resuming and first start at this level but has run some cheeky races at huge odds from time to time, still prefer to watch
5 THE CHEROKEE CHIEF NZ ($5,000) $5 good win last time when pinged to the front, has been consistent at this level so an EW chance again
6 ROCK AND RUN ($5,000) $17 last couple of runs have been getting better but still needs to find more to figure
7 WATERLOO BAY ($5,000) $4.5 ran his worst race in ages last time, has been ultra competitive at this level for a long time so prepared to give another chance
8 JEFFERSON NZ ($7,000) $11 has disappointed recently, whilst he is well up to winning this on best form place chances appear best on current form
9 BONNY WEE LADDIE ($8,000) $3.5 absolutely flying at present but its an enormous ask to give a 30 metre start over 2200m, the one thing in his favour is the smallish field as means there are less runners to round up. Still a clear top pick

1 TEEJAY FELLA $3.0 went like a jet when he led and won two starts back then ultra disappointing last time, should lead here and if repeats run 2 starts back should win but last run has me worried a shade
2 KING ALBERT $15 honest type who draws to get the right trip, great chance of adding value to exotics
3 TELLMESOMETHINGOOD NZ $21 hasn't done much since coming to Tassie, has ability at best though so keeping relatively safe
4 TOPNOTCH DAN $5 didn't quite finish his race off when resuming but did over race in the run, looks well placed in this if found best form so prepared to give another chance
5 JUST MAKE OUR DEIGH $3.0 went very well Sunday in the Launceston Mile getting beaten 4.5 metres in a race where they finished off in 56.5 so if repeats anything like that will be right in the mix
6 MIAMI ROCKET NZ $15 has disappointed since arriving in the state so overlooking him as a winning chance until he does something
7 SON OF JAM $15 best run in ages last time when enjoyed a perfect run in transit, hard to see him getting the same run again from here but must keep safe
8 HARLEY FELLA $17 as honest as the day is long and whilst he doesn't have the speed to come wide and beat these he will try all the way so include in exotics

5 EL JAYS MAVERICK $5 ran his best race in ages last time, this is actually his best draw in a long time so comes right into calculations
6 LIVIN N HEAVEN NZ $13 much improved run last time, might be the surprise packet
7 OSCARS ACE $7 interesting runner resuming from a spell for the state's leading trainer, watch market moves
8 PRETTYBOYTOBY $8 superbly driven to win last time and going to need a similar drive to feature from this gate
